Residency Opportunity 

The residency is open to a professional Visual Artists living and working in Vesterålen in any discipline including but not limited to: sculpture, photography, painting, installation, and video.

Artists in residence must be available for four weeks between September to December 2022. During the residency artists are expected to develop new work or new ideas based on the unique site, and engage with local artists and Artlink members. Resident artists are expected to actively create within the studio space for at least 20 hours a week and be willing to hold open studio hours with the public for a minimum of one day a week. Public engagement could be through presenting artist talks, workshops, demonstrations or other events.

Fees
Artists will be paid a residency fee of €6500 for undertaking the residency. The residency fee covers all flights, accommodation, transport, materials, living expenses and artist’s fee. The selected artists are responsible for arranging their own accommodation and travel arrangements and managing their budget as appropriate.

Resources 
Artilink will offer time, space and professional support for work, reflection, research and experimentation.

Criteria for Assessment of applications

• visual artist living and working in Vesterålen, Norway
• evidence of  a committed artist(s) with a developed and professional approach to their work
• the ambition and experimentation inherent in the application and proposal 
• proposal links in a innovative and original way to the site and surrounding areas
• clear benefits to the artist(s) practice
• engagement with and benefits to local arts community

There are lots of options locally.  We can work this out with selected artists.

Can I send anything other than  a single .pdf file?
No

Is the studio wheelchair accessible?
The studio is located on the ground floor. There are two steps but we have a temporary ramp for access.

When will I find out if I have been selected?

Selected artists will be contacted by end of August 2022. We will notify unsuccessful applicants shortly after this. We regret we are unable to provide feedback to applicants.
