Shiro Masuyama’s three day solo exhibition, Borderline, took place at Fort Dunree on 25th, 26th, and 27th October 2025.

Shiro Masuyama is a socially engaged artist originally from Japan. Following his international residencies at the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin in 2006 and Flax Art Studios in 2009, he relocated to Belfast, Northern Ireland, where he has been based ever since. As an artist from Japan who has established his home in Northern Ireland, he is uniquely positioned to explore how identity can be shaped by the prevailing political forces around us. Through his three day solo exhibition at ArtLink, he presented his three significant projects centred on the theme of “Borderline,” which include “Borderline Project” (2013), “Brexit Sausage” (2022), and “Crossing the Border” (2010). The Arts Council of Ireland and the Centre for Creative Practices kindly supported this show.
