Artlink invites submissions of work in any medium for its 2018 annual members’ show, curated by Rita McMahon of 126 Artist-Run Gallery, Galway. What this theme means to each individual artist and the medium in which they work is open to wide interpretation. The Everyday aims to pay attention to the entire range of experiences and activities that make up our multi-faceted lives, including commonplace activities such as eating, shopping, cooking, napping, texting, dressing, cleaning and working. It includes those qualities that pervade everyday experience - the messy, gaudy, grubby, chaotic, cute, kitschy, repetitive, meditative, ordered - qualities universally present in the daily life of all of us, regardless of our occupation, lifestyle, economic status, social class or cultural background. The theme allows for an exploration of the overlooked aspects of life, perhaps showing us the remarkable in the nondescript, the sublime in the prosaic; an immersion in the pleasures of popular culture, or reflection on what happens when nothing happens. Submit your proposal/ideas for 3 works, with relevant images, in any medium, by Friday 6th July. Send in PDF format to firstname.lastname@example.org Hand in selected works 10th/11th July.
