Artist-in-residence Aileen Barr's second workshop with Artlink's members included a detailed introduction to ceramic glazes and techniques. Participants worked on pieces made on the first workshop, which had since been bisque fired. They learned about how to choose an appropriate glaze, brushing techniques of glaze application, and decorating work with underglazes.
These photographs record a delightful experimental drawing workshop lead by Artlink artist-in-residence Anaïs Tondeur. This was the first of two workshops, the first of which focused on the making of various 'body extensions' (based on kites, flags, parachutes etc. designed by the participants) to realise drawings with the wind.
Aileen's ceramic workshop held at Artlink last Friday was a great success. She introduced the 16 participants to the history of her work and talked about her approach to collaboration with members of the community. She then moved on to practical demonstrations of a range of techniques involved in tile making.
The places available on the workshop were filled within just a few hours of the event being posted on our Facebook page, showing that there is obviously a great demand for ceramic workshops!. Artlink is currently redeveloping and improving the ceramics facilities available on site and we look forward to hosting other workshops with artists in this area.
